Chemical Peels include a wide range of procedures including a
light alphahydroxy peels, medium depth trichyloracidic acidic peels and deeper
phenol peels. The light
alphahydroxy peels can also be performed in conjunction with microdermabrasion
either on the same day or on alternating treatments. The trichyloracidic acid peels typically result in
significant edema of the skin with some swelling as well.
Typically one needs 5 days of without being face to face with the public.
Makeup should not be applied for 5 days.
Phenol peels provide the deepest level of
peeling. This is a very complex
procedure and phenol peels are typically used in our hands with small very
pigmented lesions. They can be
particularly effective in this instance.
